ALTA VISTA AND MAPLEWOOD, BETHESDA, MD.
The Alta Vista and Maplewood neighborhoods were named by a developer in the early 1880's to draw people away from the heat and humidity of Washington D.C. and the Potomac River. The first houses were built at the end of the street car line.
